A Family Holiday in the UK

Spending your family holiday in the UK can turn out to be quite a fun adventure. Besides enjoying breathtaking views of the countryside and coastline, there are many pleasurable things to do with your family in the Southern part of England.

South England is a great place to bring your family. There are many beaches where you can watch your children enjoy wading in the shallow waters or walk the coastlines to find beautiful seashells to bring home as a souvenir. If your family enjoys being out on the ocean, you could take a day ride in Wiltshire on a canal barge, sail around Poole Harbour or take a ride on the Bristol Ferry.

In Berkshire, families can enjoy an inexpensive day out at the Acsot Racecourse. Besides watching the races, there are other activities at the racecourse to enjoy such as face painting and fairground rides. Best of all, children under the age of 18 can get in free of charge!
The Isle of Wight has a lot to offer for a great family holiday too. You could take a Wightlink ferry to the Isle of Wight and enjoy a ride on a steam train, visit the 11th century Carisbrook Castle, or check out ancient fossils in Dinosaur Isle. Animal enthusiasts can enjoy a day at Seaview Wildlife or the Wight Zoo.

More castles with tales of legendary Kings and Queens and battle reenactments can be found in South West England such as Dartmouth Castle in Devon, Tintagel Castle in Cornwall and Dunster Castle in Somerset.

For families that enjoy motor vehicles, the National Motor Museum Beaulieu in Hampshire is sure to please with some of the most famous cars in the UK including award winning racecars, a replica of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang flying car and Rupert Grint's flying car as seen in the movie Harry Potter.

Outdoor adventure can be found at The River Thames. You can rent a motor boat or canoe and enjoy a relaxing trip down the river while passing through historic towns and enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. At the Longridge Activity Centre, you will find activities that your whole family can enjoy including kayaking, sailing, climbing and fencing.

Other attractions that your whole family can enjoy include the Woodlands Leisure Park in Devon, Adventure Wonderland in Bournemouth, Crealy Adventure Park in Cornwall, The Eden Project in Cornwall, the Cheddar Gorge and Caves in Somerset and Monkey World in Dorset.
If you're heading to the Norfolk Broads, you'll find many outdoor activities including fishing, archery lessons, national wildlife reserves, hiking trails, cycling paths, bird watching, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and kayaking.

There are so many options for weekend breaks in the UK, it's just a matter of deciding where to go!
